The Man Behind the Music
Audiophile. Craftsman. The kind of guy who will drive across town to make sure your speakers are placed exactly right.

Dave Barkby got hooked on great sound in 10th grade, around 1980. Over four decades later, he is still chasing the same thing: music so real you close your eyes and imagine you are there.
He opened his first audio store in 1995 in Dover, Pennsylvania -- a shop where car audio, home audio, custom subwoofer enclosures, and woodworking all lived under the same roof. That combination of sound and craftsmanship defined everything that came after: entertainment centers, custom furniture, commercial cabinetry, and eventually, Legacy Audio.
Around 2015, Dave visited the Legacy Audio factory in Springfield, Illinois. He had heard the name before, but this was the first time he actually listened. That was it. He carries one brand because he believes in it enough to bet his business on it.
Today, based in Glendale, Arizona, Dave serves the entire Phoenix metro area with private in-home listening sessions and works with clients across the country on a case-by-case basis. He will not sell you a center channel he thinks is too small, even if you insist. He is not trying to be the biggest dealer. He is trying to be the one people trust.

NowMore Than Audio
What most people do not know about Dave is that when he is not setting up world-class speaker systems, he is in his workshop in Dover, Pennsylvania, turning raw burl wood into museum-quality wall sculptures. Buckeye burl. Redwood burl. Each piece shaped by the same hands that tune your listening room.
It is the same obsession expressed in a different medium. The same patience. The same ear for detail (yes, wood has a voice too). The same refusal to call something finished until it is right. Dave does not just sell audio equipment. He is a craftsman who understands what it means to build something that lasts.

Legacy Audio has been handcrafting speakers in Springfield, Illinois for over 40 years. Founded by Bill Dudleston, still the Chief Designer, they build speakers that are as much art as engineering.

On listening rooms
“The room is half the system. I will not sell you $50,000 in speakers and let you put them in a room that fights everything they are trying to do.”
On honest advice
“If you do not need the bigger speaker, I will tell you. I would rather earn your trust than make a bigger sale.”
On personal service
“Every system starts with a conversation. I want to understand your room, your taste, and what matters to you before we talk about a single product.”
On Legacy Audio
“I went to the factory. I heard the AMT tweeters. I did not need to hear anything else.”
Dave would rather show you than tell you. Schedule a private session and hear the difference.
