The Legacy Audio i·V4 at $6,000 provides four channels of 610-watt ICEedge amplification in a single chassis, offering configurations that a two-channel amplifier cannot match. Power a 4.0 surround system. Bi-amp a pair of Legacy speakers for dedicated bass and treble amplification. Drive front channels and surrounds from one unit. The i·V4 is the most versatile amplifier in Legacy's standard lineup.
Bi-amping is where the i·V4 particularly shines. Legacy's passive speakers with dual binding post inputs (the Marquis center channel and others) can be driven by separate amplifier channels for the bass and midrange/treble sections. This eliminates the passive crossover's back-EMF from the woofer affecting the tweeter feed, producing cleaner high-frequency reproduction and tighter bass control.
The i·V4 serves as an excellent building block for home theater systems. A single i·V4 can power front left, front right, center, and one surround channel. Add a second i·V4 for the remaining surrounds, height channels, and additional bass management. Two i·V4s provide eight channels of matched amplification at $12,000, an alternative to a single i·V8 that offers the flexibility of placing amplifiers closer to the speakers they drive.
For multi-room audio installations, the i·V4 can power speakers in four separate zones from a single location. Its cool-running Class D efficiency makes it suitable for rack-mounted installations in equipment closets where heat dissipation is a concern, and its compact chassis conserves rack space in installations with multiple amplifier units.
Like every amplifier in Legacy's i·V series, the i·V4 shares the same sonic DNA as its siblings. Adding channels to your system by adding i·V amplifiers never introduces tonal variations between zones or channels; the sound is consistent because the amplifier modules are identical.
